why do some marriages fail within the first few months?
2 of my friends who got married in the summer have already separated, but both couples had been together for 4 or 5 years and living together for a couple of years before getting wed! I have heard that this is not uncommon, but why does it happen? surely you’d have doubts before getting married and not go through with the wedding! obviously I dont want to ask my friends this as it’s rude.
Often when people live together before they marry, they develop unrealistic expectations of what things will be like when they marry -when in reality, any issues that are there before the wedding will STILL be there after the ceremony. I also think that once people are living together for awhile, they become comfortable ignoring whatever issues are present – but once they realize that they’ve committed to things “forever”, those issues become too much to deal with.
